It's really good to be back in Singapore! Nothing beats being home!
Anyway, lots of things happened in the last month that I've been traveling - had been in a hospital in Prague, had my camera stolen, and had a car accident in Iceland - ran into some visa problems too, coz we all realized late that the French Embassy had issued us the wrong visa, but it's good that it all turned out well - coz Meeshell was in Russia and me in Eastern Europe before we met in Stockholm to fly to Iceland....but all in all, I'm really glad that I'm safe and sound, and back home early!
Unforgettable! The car accident was really the first for me though. Meeshell and I were driving for 4 hours towards Akrueyri, the next major city besides Reykjavik in Iceland, when we hit a roadblock, with the police telling us that we have to take the alternate gravel road, coz there's been a car accident on the main road. However, as our rental wasn't suited to be driven on rocky road, just a few minutes into the rocky path, the car went out of the control. I couldn't feel the grip of my steering wheel no more, and what's worse, my brakes wasn't working, and the rocks on the road kept swaying my car to a side direction. Only with turning the wheel to the extreme left and right did it have any effect - so I figured we have to find a way to stop the car. To the right was a very steep slope - which I thought if we'd gone down there, I probably wouldn't even be here now; and to the left was a gentle slope leading towards the fence of a farm. In a split second I had to decide which was the better solution - so to the left I went, down the slope and ramming into the barbed wire of the farm fence. The car was really in a bad shape, but thank God neither Meeshell nor I was injured! Think we were both in shock, as we stupidly struggled to restart the engine to move off again - but of course the car would not budge, and everyone outside were literally running towards and banging on our car to see if we were alright. The police who redirected us soon came to pick us up, and we were so tired that we fell asleep in the police car towards the station. Well, guess it was really a life-death experience for me, but really amazed at how at peace both Meeshell and I felt going through that incident! Think it was really God who was with us, sheltering us from any harm! It was a good thing too, that we weren't using Oli's (our host in Iceland) car too! Can't believe how guilty I'd have felt if we did, coz he's such an adorable guy! Guess I'm just speechless now.
Amsterdam! It was our last stop traveling together with my home gang before we parted our separate ways! Still remembered on our first day there, we wanted to go to the Van Gogh museum, but on the way there, we got SO distracted - first by the book market, then the french fries selling on the street (love the mayo sauce!), the souvenir shops, the cheap groceries at the supermarket (You wouldn't believe, but grocery shopping is really a major attraction in Europe, lol!) and finally we got stuck on Kalverstraat (shopping!)...and never made it out from that street! Haha...well think Meeshell and I would have died shopping and of gluttony if we had done our exchange in Amsterdam instead! Coz there was this yummy thing called Stroopwaffles (is it spelt like that?), that was simply so amazing; we got addicted the whole 2 days we were there! Laughs. Ohh, and we got some mexican mushrooms to try too - but accidentally left them at the host's place! (What a stupid thing to do!) - well...just hope he'll not use them for cooking!
Anyway, I spent my last few days back in Paris, shopping like crazy for presents to bring back, and also finally gave in to the temptation to buy back an LV bag! Ohh, and I really hope that u all like the stuff that I got for u!
Back Home. Also, last thing, it was REALLY great meeting up today! Met up to celebrate Meiling's birthday at Hard Rock! Was really, really fun hanging out with you guys!! Met Gab earlier for lunch and shopping today too, and really missed talking to him! Don't know why, seeing him always cheers me up! And silly boy, you don't have to spend 4 hours shopping with me to find out what I like! It really doesn't matter what you get, it's just the thought that counts! What's more, my birthday is still eons away in August! Anyway, it was really nice seeing you today...really!
Okies dokes, have to go now. Guess this too brings the closure of my blog! Gosh, wished I could give this blog a BIG hug! - HUG - Sigh, gonna miss this so much! : (
Anyway, I really meet all of you whom I haven't met in ages! I'm leaving on 18 July...but this week's kinda maxed out, but there's still the next...so date me out yeah! grins.
